Wyższa Szkoła Języków Obcych (WSJO) is located in Świecie (pronounced SHFYEH-cheh), a small town in northern part of Poland called Pomorze or Pomerania. Świecie lies in between a few cities: it is 150 km (about 1,5 hr drive) from Gdańsk, 50 km (about 30 min. drive) from Toruń, and 50 km (about 30 min. drive) from Bydgoszcz. The nearest town is Grudziądz (10 km away, about 30 min. drive). Świecie has a long, 700-year tradition and boasts a few medieval landmarked buildings; it is also one of Poland’s biggest centers of paper industry. Current population is approximately 50,000. The school’s campus is a mere five minutes’ drive from downtown, somewhat on the town’s outskirts. This very location gives it a cozily suburban flavor. The campus is situated on the place formerly occupied by the army base. It is close to a beautiful countrylike areas of lakes and green lush hills which are in reach within a few minutes’ drive.
The school is reachable by train, bus, and car. PKP, a company that operates railroad service, runs daily service from Toruń, Bygdoszcz and other locations. PKS and Polski Ekspres oparate buses.
